The 2013 Hennessey Venom GT2 will get a significant power hike to 1500 hp plus some design changes in the body. While the 2012 Venom GT with its twin-turbo aluminum V8 engine produces 1200 hp (895 kW), the 2013MY will be powered by a 7.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 1500 hp (1118 kW). The engine will be connected to a 6-speed Ricardo manual or a new 7-speed paddle shift transmission. Although performance figures have not been revealed, the new model should be quicker thanks to its better power-to-weight ratio (more than 1 hp / kg). As a reminder, the 2012 Venom GT weighs 1,220 kg (2,685 lbs) and needs 2.2 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h), on its way to a top speed of 272 mph (440 km/h). It will borrow the same carbon fiber body with its active rear wing that provides extra down force. Hennessey will perform some changes to the doors which will get a new design with dihedral hinges, while the double bubble roof will offer additional headroom. But perhaps the most noticeable styling change includes getting rid of the Lotus headlamps in favor of a more original design. Also found at the front end is an exposed carbon fiber front air damn section, new hood with the center arch removed and new side mirrors.
